The photographer will be posting some of our pictures on her blog/webiste, please let me know if you or your parents have an issue with your photos being online.

Thanks. Wendi

Mid-Term Grades

JUST A REMINDER...

If a cheerleader receives below a 3.0 GPA on a second report card (they do not need to be consecutive) she will be dismissed from the squad.

Team Treats/Encouragements

Here is a list of sports/teams that each squad is responsible for. The Spirit Leader for each squad is responsible for delegating the work, however, everyone should participate. Remember that you must do 2 good luck/Encouragements during the fall (be sure to check when each sport ends) for each sport/team. Talk to me if you need a P.O.. This project will count as points towards your cheer grade.

Sophs: golf, soccer, volleyball

Juniors: drill, band

Seniors: football, x-country

Mark your calendars!! Team/individual photos will be on October 3. Please pay your first photo payment to the Financial Office in the amount of $25.00 by August 19th. A second payment (approximately $25.00) will be due just shortly after the photo shoot. After the photo shoot, each girl will receive a cd with all of the images so you may decide on, and order your own prints.

Cheer Camp

I thought some of you might want to show your parents our "superior" evaluations.

**My internet is too slow to download the videos straight to the blog so I've been uploading the videos to Youtube and then to the blog. If any of your parents have issues about you being on Youtube then please let me know. The blog is now private so the only way for others to access the videos would be for them to search the billions of videos on youtube and I didn't put "spanish fork" in any of the video descriptions.

What to Bring to Camp

If anyone can think of anything else that we need to bring, let me know and I will add it to our list. We are limited on space so you need to limit your luggage to one bag (cheer bag). If you need a small backpack to go along with your cheer bag then that would be fine.

o Camp Clothes (4 shirts, 2 shorts, additional hot shorts)
o Cheer uniform (red skirt and red & white top, red hot shorts, proper bra)
o Hair bows (red & white & zebra)
o Cheer shoes
o Socks (white, no-show), underwear, & pajamas
o Sweater or jacket – regular day clothes or dressy clothes are not necessary
o Sleeping bag or blankets & pillow (linens if you want them)
o Towel(s)
o Toiletries, including sunscreen
o Masking tape for door signs
o Alarm clock (if you use your cell phone then you don’t need one)
o Water bottle
o Camera
o Secret sister gift & questions
o Door name tags
o Treats/snacks
o Dress-ups??
o Money (You will need to pay for your lunch on Tuesday afternoon before the camp begins and Friday afternoon when camp is over. There will also be souvenirs available for purchase if you are interested)

**Be sure your name is on all your belongings. Please leave valuables at home!

Who's Reading

First cheerleader to leave a comment on this post does not have to run (at ALL) the following practice!! So who's reading? Everyone else, leave a comment as well so I know you are checking the updates. I know how much time you spend on facebook (or Twitter, or whatever else is out there)... so I don't think I'm asking too much.

Update - Camp Door Decorations

Somehow I missed two names on the camp list. Christie Cerenzie and Shelby Beckstrom ARE going to camp so please do not forget to make them a door name tag as well.

Cheer Videos - General

Here are the six cheers we learned today as well as the first 24 counts of the Mickey dance (the Mickey dance is at the very end). Practice, practice, practice! All cheerleaders, including those who have been on cheer before, need to watch the videos to make sure that every move is precise. I realize that some of the cheer moves may be slightly different from the way you have been doing them in the past, so watch carefully. I kept some of your changes to the cheers but also changed a few on which I'm not willing to compromise. When we learn cheers on Mondays you should be ready to pass them off by Friday of the same week. After you have read this post and practiced the cheers/dance, leave a message so I know who is actually following the blog.

**Disclaimer: Sorry about the dorky videos! I tried blurring out the face so I didn't look like such an idiot (or at least so know one could recognize me) but I couldn't figure out how to do it.

Cheer Camp DRIVERS

We are in need of parent drivers for cheer camp. It will probably take four parent drivers to get everyone there and four to get back. We will need to leave at 8:00 am on Tuesday, July 7th. Pick-up will be at 12:30 pm on Friday, July 10th. Closing ceremonies will begin at 11:30 on Friday and are open to anyone who is interested in coming to watch. Please leave me a message if your parents would be willing to either take or pick-up. Thanks!

Uniform Info.

Cheer Bag – Tricolor Deluxe Travel Bag (Black & Red)

If you haven’t ordered a cheer bag, but would still like one, it’s not too late! Order your bag from http://www.cheerleadingonline.com. It is called the Tricolor Deluxe Travel Bag and you can find it for $17.95 under the Bags tab on the home page. After the bag has been shipped to you, take it to RDJ Embroidery on Main Street in Spanish Fork to have the embroidery work done. They will have the template for the embroidery so all they will need is the correct spelling for your name. The cost for the embroidery is $18.00 and you will pay it directly to RDJ.

Cheer Shoes – NIKE Stamina Cheer Shoe (RED)

If at any time you are interested in a second pair of cheer shoes, you may order them online from any vendor you wish. Here are a few companies you might want to try:
1. http://www.teamcheer.com
2. http://cheerandpom.com
3. http://www.head2toecheer.com
4. http://www.footlocker.com

Bra Straps

Please remember that you will be sitting the bench if your bra straps are showing. You can find a bra with racerback straps or order clips that will hold the straps out of sight. Look for the clips at www.perfectstrap.com or www.strapperfect.com.
** The bra clips come in sets of 9 or 18 so you might want to find a few people to split the order with.

Hot Shorts - RED

If you are looking for hot shorts you might want to check these places:
1. Billiejo Clothing – University Ave in Provo
2. Lisa Andersson (she custom makes them) – 801-368-7325
3. Any of the above mentioned online cheer companies
4. Child’s – Main Street Spanish fork

Uniform Washing Instructions

For those of you who borrowed uniforms, please follow these washing instructions...

Uniform Washing Instructions

The FIRST WASH is the most important!

Each garment should be washed by itself (wash shell & skirt separately!) in a full tub of cold water (see garment label for water temperature) using the Permanent Press cycle.

Use a mild detergent, without fabric softener. Tide is recommended. Do not use bleach.

If the initial washing instructions are not followed, the colors may bleed onto one another. If this happens, wash the garment AGAIN (before drying), following the instructions above.

ALWAYS remove the garment promptly from the washer once the cycle is completed.

Leaving the garment in the washer for prolonged periods of time can cause the fabrics to bleed and/or leave unsightly wrinkles in the garment.

DO NOT machine dry the uniform.

Once the uniform has been washed, immediately hang it up to dry.
DO NOT dry clean the uniform.

Dry cleaning can yellow the uniform or leave an unsightly sheen. Dry cleaning also causes tackle twill lettering to fade, bubble, or stiffen.
Never use fabric softener or stain removers.

Fabric softeners block the soil release properties (Visa treatment) and can cause dirt and stains to resist removal. If a fabric softener is used, follow the original washing instructions.

Do not use a stain remover. Stain removers may lock the stain into the garment. Do not store wet poms in their plastic bags.

Let them air dry first. This will keep the unpleasant mildew smell from attacking your poms. If you spill a soft drink on your poms, wash them off with mild soap and water and let them air dry.

Update

The following was sent to all cheerleaders and parents in an email. If you are not getting the emails then please let us know!

Parents & Cheerleaders,

We discussed the changes to the cheer schedule at our last practice; however, we wanted to make sure everyone is clear about what is happening this weekend (or what is left of it) and this upcoming week.

There will be no practice on Monday, May 25! Enjoy the holiday!

Tuesday, May 26th
We WILL have practice Tuesday morning at 6:00am.
o Please come in appropriate practice attire; no spaghetti straps or low-cut tops (you will be seen around the school as we get ready for the assembly)
o Please bring your FULL cheer uniform!! (DO NOT wear it to class… EVER!)
o top, skirt
o hot shorts (red for varsity, black for soph & jv)
o shoes (if you do not have your new shoes, please bring an alternate)
o “no-show” socks
o poms
o hair must be pulled back and away from the face
o no gum or jewelry
o trimmed nails
o All cheerleaders will be school excused from 1st period in order to help prepare for the assembly. This means that the new Sophomore cheerleaders will not be going back to the Jr. High before the assembly. If there is a reason (testing, etc) that you must attend class, please let us know.
o Sophomores: After the assembly you need to quickly change into day-time clothing (no practice gear, no uniforms) so that you can catch the bus and ride back to the Jr. High with all the other students.

We are canceling Tuesday’s after-school practice and we will not have any other practice during the last week of school! Practice will resume at 7:00am on Monday, June 15th.

Summer Practices:
Remember, that as of now, summer practices are scheduled from 7:00am – 9:00am. However, this is tentative. Is it very possible that we may not be finished by 9:00am. We may also choose to start earlier if necessary.

Please be aware that we will be running the SF City Recreation Cheer Camp for the little kids June 22nd through the 26th. We will NOT be finished until around 11:00am It will be a fundraiser. We will get your more information as soon as it becomes available.

A reminder: Although you do have four days of vacation to be used at your discretion, these are for PRE-APPROVED vacation absences (not “oops, I slept in.”) and CANNOT be taken during the week of the 24th of July (July 18th- 25th).

Purse Party:
Thanks to everyone for their help. We felt that it was successful and worth our time. Lisa Swenson was generous and decided to donate 15% of the profits instead of 10%. We made $375 which equates to $18.75 per girl. As promised, this money will be used towards day-time uniforms.

Cheer Blog:
Please continue checking the cheer blog for updates and practice videos (http://sfhcheer.blogspot.com). We have added a calendar so that all cheer information is kept in one place. This blog will be private as of June 1st. We will give access to everyone (parents & cheerleaders) via the email address that you have provided. If you have any questions or need any help with this blog, please do not hesitate to ask.

Cheer Payment Reminders:
o For those attending camp your $280 payment was due 3 weeks ago (due May 1st). If you have not paid, please do so ASAP. If you haven’t turned in your receipt, please get it to Wendi.
o The 2nd payment of $200 is by due June 1st.
o If you haven’t ordered a cheer bag and would like one, please get your $40 payment to the financial office ASAP. We will be placing a 2nd order for bags and if you miss the order you’ll have to pay your own shipping fees.

Attached is the master contact list.

Again, thanks for your help and support!
